Hello tech. freaks and enthusiastic nerds.
Welcome to our team.
Welcome to our team.
Head of Global Sales (all genders)
Broadcast & Film | APEX Stabilizations GmbH, Vienna | Full-time | Worldwide travel
We are building our global sales operation from the ground up, and we are looking for the person who will own it. Not as part of an existing team, but as the one person responsible for opening and developing the international market for our systems.
About APEX
From our base in Vienna, APEX Stabilizations develops and manufactures gyro-stabilized camera systems for broadcast, film and demanding specialist applications. Our 5-axis systems work where standard solutions give up: on helicopters, vehicles, cranes, cable cams, elevating platforms and boats. A sealed IP65 housing, true 5-axis stabilization and Ethernet-based remote control are not optional extras in our products. They are what the product is built on.
Our systems are in use around the world with sports broadcasters, production service providers and institutional customers.
APEX is a subsidiary of Riedel Communications, which also owns ARRI, and our systems will carry the ARRI brand in future. That matters for the role: you will not be introducing an unknown manufacturer, you will be selling a product of our own engineering with one of the most trusted names in the film industry behind it.
What you will sell
Our product in the market today is the AX18, a 5-axis premium system built for the most demanding work there is: helicopters, sports broadcast and long focal lengths under real operating conditions.
Behind it is a full development pipeline, and the next launches are not far off. We will go into what is coming once we are talking.
So you are not inheriting a finished portfolio. You will see the upcoming launches through from the very beginning, shape how they are positioned, and build the sales pipeline that carries them from day one. Anyone looking to work through an existing customer list will not enjoy this role.
Your responsibilities
-) Building and owning worldwide sales across the full portfolio
-) Direct sales to broadcasters, OB companies and production service providers, rental houses, specialist rig operators, system integrators and institutional customers
-)Building and managing an international partner and dealer network in the regions you do not cover directly
-)Running complete sales cycles from first contact to close. Our engineering team handles demonstrations and technical presentations, so your job is to lead the relationship
-)Representing APEX at the trade shows and industry events that matter, among them IBC, NAB, Cine Gear and BSC Expo
-)Holding our pricing discipline and keeping the positioning of the individual systems clearly separated
Driving the upcoming product launches, from positioning through the first reference customers to market ramp-up
-)Building a pipeline today that is already positioned for the products and volumes of the coming years
Feeding what you learn in the market back into our development work
-)Pipeline, forecast and reporting directly to the managing director
Your profile
-) Several years of experience selling capital equipment that needs explaining, ideally in broadcast, film or professional camera technology
-) A strong personal network in the industry. We are looking for someone who does not have to research who the decision makers are, because they already know them
-) A track record of closing six-figure deals with long decision cycles and several stakeholders on the customer side
-) Experience building a market, not only serving one. Ideally you have already launched a product that nobody had heard of
-) Enough technical confidence to hold the room. You do not need an engineering degree, but you do need to stand up to questions from camera crews, system engineers and procurement without going back to a colleague for every answer
-) An independent, structured way of working. What you are given is a mandate, not a ready-made sales organization
-) Fluent business English. German and further languages are an advantage, not a requirement
Willingness to travel internationally
-) Based in Vienna or remote, with regular presence in Vienna
What we offer
-) A product already proven in the market, and what is coming next aims at a gap nobody currently occupies
-) Riedel Communications behind you and the ARRI name alongside you, which opens doors that would otherwise stay closed
-) An engineering team that takes on demos, presentations and technical detail, so that your time goes into selling
-) A free hand in building the sales structure. You have a say in which channels we use and which partners we work with in each market
-) A direct line to the managing director and to engineering. Decisions here are made in days, not quarters
Compensation
Austrian law requires every job advertisement to state the minimum salary set by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. For this position that is the agreement for salaried employees in the metal and mechatronics trade, and the minimum it defines is 64,316.56 Euro gross per year on a full-time basis, paid in fourteen monthly instalments.
That number is a legal floor we are obliged to publish. It is not our offer. What we actually pay depends on your experience, your track record and the network you bring with you.
The package is a fixed annual salary plus an uncapped, performance-based sales commission on the business you bring in. The commission is where this role becomes interesting: in a strong year the variable component can exceed the fixed one.
